About the job
For our Digital Advertisement Platform team we are looking for enthusiastic, independent, opinionated QA engineers / test engineers, who understand the potential impact they have on our active user base that is currently hovering around 3,3 million. This means 50 thousand people using the Albert Heijn app en website actively at any moment during the day, and that makes it a really fun project to work on!
The Digital Advertisement Platform team makes a digital advertisement platform for Albert Heijn web and app. This is a relatively new team and there is a lot to win and create!
Being a QA Engineer at Albert Heijn means your goal is to ensure that only the most reliable code makes it to production. You do this together with other members of your scrum team. In an Agile team, you can set up the tests within your team in such a way that the team is able to deliver high quality software to production. You do this by knowing the ins and outs of our applications. You work together with developers in your team to ensure the fastest possible feedback. With your experience with test automation and requirements analysis, you marshal your team in the right direction.
Our team is large and very diverse, in regard to both culture and skills. Some of us are internal employees and others come from agencies or are freelancers, but all are fully integrated members of the team and are equally contributing to the app and its evolution.
What are we looking for
As QA Engineer for our digital platform we expect you to be a front-runner in your field. You have experience in testing complex (microservice) systems and high performant API’s. In doing this you understand the importance of test automation in an Agile environment. You can work with the newest test automation tooling and are not afraid to write automated test scripts yourself. You know your way around functional and integration testing and can write native test scripts and run these on your machine, or as part of the CI/CD processes. Being a test engineer, you also know your way around with generic testing frameworks like Appium, Selenium, Cypress or RestAssured.
Next to your technical skills you are also able to translate complex requirements into clear acceptance criteria that are the basis for tests. You understand that testing is a team effort, but that you as a test engineer play a large role in helping the team to have the right focus on quality.

- An annual salary between 45K and 65K based on a full-time workweek (40 hours).
- A bonus plan: the annual amount can range from 45 to 130% of your average monthly paycheck.
- Possibility to work 32-40 hours a week and work hybrid (1-2 days in the office on average).
- An attractive pension plan of which we pay out over 4x times the amount you contribute to the fund. So you’ll continue to enjoy a comfortable income even after retiring :-)

What you bring:
- At least 4 years of relevant experience as a software tester and at least 2 years of test automation experience;
- At least 4 years of experience in functional testing, and at least 2 years experience in test automation;
- Experience in performance testing is a pre. As well as Testing micro services or API’s.
- Experience with source control and CI/CD systems like Github, Github Actions and Jenkins;
A valid working permit to work in the Netherlands is mandatory (we can offer extension of your sponsorship, but currently don’t offer relocation).

Our interview Process
The first step is reviewing your resume and planning a 30-min (video) call with our tech recruiter Irene van Rosmalen. The next step is a relaxed interview with the Product Owner and a lead developer from the team so they can tell you everything about the job and the team and hear a bit more about your experience and background. Next is a technical assignment to prepare at home and present during the second interview with the Lead QA and a fellow QA Engineer. It is to understand if your style matches what we look for in a teammate and where we talk about the assessment, your experiences, and some day-to-day technical stuff you don’t really need any preparation for. Finally there is a 30-min chat with the Head of Tech to get to know each other and tell you more about the direction and ambitions of the team.
