The original Food Lion store #1 still operates in the same general location it did when it opened in 1957 in Salisbury, N.C. It opened under the name of Food Town.
Through Food Lion Feeds, the company’s hunger-relief initiative, the retailer has donated more than 750 million meals to individuals and families since 2014 and has committed to donate 1.5 billion meals by 2025.
