Building word-class merchandising & sourcing capabilities for and with our great local brands
Leveraging and scaling world-class merchandising & sourcing capabilities across Ahold Delhaize Europe is one of the strategic priorities in our European Digital & Technology Strategy. We founded the European Merchandising Hub with the purpose to help and accelerate the development, implementation and utilization of these capabilities in our great local brands.

To do so we partner with internal and external Technology providers. Whilst we are in the midst of scaling Pricing, Promotions and Assortment Optimization solutions, we now also aim to leverage a proven Sourcing Insights product called OneSource which has been developed by the Albert Heijn Tech team. The goal of OneSource is to provide sourcing managers with a central portal to access all essential information needed for successful negotiations. 


Your role
As European Product Owner Sourcing Optimization, you own the scaling, roll out and support of the OneSource solution for all EU brands together with the Albert Heijn Tech team as product provider. In this role, you challenge and help our local brands to optimize value creation from the tooling – which goes beyond prioritization of requirements. You balance local vs. total value creation across the Group and practice and advocate agile ways of working.


Ultimately, we believe that having access to the best tools will let people do their best work, enabling Ahold Delhaize Europe to drive organic growth and margin improvements to re-invest in our customers.


To be successful, you will first obtain a proper understanding of the OneSource functionalities and local business dynamics. Next, together with local implementation teams, you will:

  • maintain a single backlog which will be transparent and accessible to all stakeholders across Europe
  • truly get to understand user needs
  • identify the process and organizational impact to adopt and work with the new tooling
  • challenge current ways of working
  • introduce best practices in change management
  • stimulate and facilitate best-practice sharing across brands
  • help implement desired changes and process improvements
  • coordinate business validation and acceptance

You will closely work together with both the Business and IT stakeholders within our local brands, with Albert Heijn as Technology provider as well as with the core members of the European Merchandising Hub.


The Team and your workplace
You are part of the European Merchandising Hub team which consists of a Business and Tech Lead and several other Product Owners. Whilst the main seat of the hub is in Zaandam, The Netherlands, we are looking to build an international and diverse team. So there is no constraint where to work.
The nature of the job makes it mostly virtual; but we do expect you to travel occasionally to our local brands and our HQ in Zaandam to build and foster relations, as well as gaining proper understanding of the local dynamics.
